Vasil Shterev, originally from Bulgaria, is a Zürich-based photographer.

He focuses on people, communities, places, and cultural stories. Fascinated by celebrations and togetherness, Vasil explores the ways we celebrate not only one another but also ourselves.

He enjoys traveling and working on projects that examine traditions, identity, and everyday life — whether through personal work, commissioned assignments, or research related to celebrations.

Beyond photography, Vasil collaborates with local artists and organizations to nurture visibility and put the idea of togetherness into action, approaching it from perspectives that go beyond the photographic.

His early work focused on documenting the queer community, the alternative electronic nightlife scene and the individuals within these who intoxicate with their great energy or simply celebrate life.

With that, Vasil aimed to challenge the conventional views of Switzerland as a place synonymous only with wealth and boredom.
